World Cup Show Program
EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT
Welcome to the 2023 Waratah August Shows. After the success of 2022 – it is totally wonderful that we can go straight into 2023 without any interruptions – like Covid!
The program is very similar to 2022 with Ring 3 again heading up to the Olympic Arena (apart from day 3 of the Warm Up Weekend, when it comes into the Indoor Arena).
The biggest change this year is that Waratah has moved to Equipe for class entries. This will mean for many riders that they will have to create profiles on Equipe – entry.equipe.com. Equipe’s scoring and ap are the main reasons for the change. Stabling will still be done on Global Entries Online. It is not necessarily an easy transition for the OC, there will be trials and tribulations for us all – so we ask for patience whilst the OC and team get their heads around Equipe.
Events like Waratah don’t happen without sponsors – and as always an enormous thank you to them, particularly our sponsors who come back each year!
Our World Cup sponsors, Apiam Agnes Banks Equine Clinic, EMCEE Apparel, the Douglass Family, Keeden Contracting and Orchard Equestrian – have supported the Waratah WC from the first – and have meant that the prize money offered has been able to be maintained against the economic downturn that is our economy today.
Thank you to all sponsors – most of you are long term supporters of Waratah and we are very grateful for your continued support.
The economic downturn (in this case the dreaded Inflation) has meant an increase in the cost per round in all rings, and an increase in the cost of stables. But if you look at it from the OC’s side – the budget is equally as gloomy and Waratah as an incorporated not-for-profit sporting body doesn’t have an overdraft facility!
This year an International CD Peter Gillespie from the UK has been brought to Waratah specifically to Mentor the CD’s in Rings 2 and 3 – and as importantly, their assistants. Peter has been to Australia several times and is one of the most respected CD’s in the UK (and the World) and over the course of both Waratah weekends, will provide an amazing opportunity and experience for our more junior CD’s. Peter will be the CD for the Oaks Sport Horses Young Horse Day on Thursday 17 August – and there will be a Style component to each age class. Rugs have been donated by Boree Equine for the Style winners of each age group (thanks Chook & Nath).
WSJ is hosting a Workshop on Tuesday 15 August at SIEC open to Senior riders and all CD’s – contact Edwena Mitchell for details.
Don’t hesitate to contact the OC if you have any questions or spot any mistakes! A bit of a slow road to get to this point this year. Regards to you all and see you at Waratah.
We are looking forward to a couple of fantastic weeks of Jumping at Sydney International Equestrian Centre and we invite you to join us for some of the best Jumping Australia has to offer.
On World Cup Day why not sit for the day and enjoy some great jumping from the comfort of the VIP area.
The VIP area will be open from 10.30am just in time for Morning Tea and you will be able to sit and enjoy the day with the best view in the house, including the Final Round of the Trans Tasman Teams Competition. A complimentary glass of Printhie Wines Sparkling will be served with your lunch and another glass with dinner.
You don’t have to stay for the whole day – but why not!
The whole day $220/person
Just the World Cup $160/person
Just the TT Teams $75/person
Great food from Mandavilla Catering – with some of the OC’s specials thrown for that home-made Edwena Mitchell feeling!
